About 1 in 8 people in the world is suffering from obesity. Overweight is one of the major lifestyle issues that the current generation faces. 16% of adults live with obesity. Lack of metabolism, lack of exercises, hereditary causes, hormonal variation etc can be the reasons.

Causes of Obesity

➔ Intake of fast food, heavy oily food

BMI – Body Mass Index calculation helps to monitor your weight and its status. This calculator is used for people above 20yrs of age.

Tips for Weight loss

● If the stomach is divided into 4 parts , 2 parts are for solid food , 1 part for liquid and keep the remaining part vacant.
● Eat only after digestion of previous food.
● Avoid sweet, sour and salty food
● Avoid oily , heavy , fast food.
● Eat light food at night .
● Include more proteins, fibre, vegetables and fruits in your diet.
● Do regular exercises. After 30s maintain the weight.
● Eat 2 times a day

Ayurveda Drinks for weight loss

1) Boil acacia catechu, barley,malabar kino tree for 3 min in 1 litre water anddrink frequently .
2) Lemon juice, chia seeds/ halim seeds and honey in early morning
3) Black coffee without sugar detoxifies liver and helps in metabolism
4) Gooseberry juice, 1 pinch turmeric, 1 piece of ginger – drink twice daily.
5) Curry leaf decoction with 1 tspn ghee in empty stomach in the morning.
6) Brhmi juice with 1 tspn honey in empty stomach in the morning.

Ayurveda Treatments for weight loss

Vamana – induced vomiting therapy is the best detoxification therapy to expel the excess Kapha in the body. Diet and treatments after this purification have a double effect in weight loss.
Dry powder massage – local and whole body dry powder massage can be done as the exfoliating treatment .
Danyamla dhara/ kashayadhara – pouring medicated liquid all over the body helps in removing oedema and fat from accumulated parts.
Steam bath – Medicated steam bath removes depositions & improves flexibility.
Herbal hot water bath – boil tamarind, neem, castor leafs, nirgundi leaves etc and take shower with it.
Purgation– do induced diarrhoea with 25 gm of triphala churna once in two months.
