Mensturation is a physiological function happening in female body. In ayurveda menstrual disorders are mentioned in the term called as Rajodushti/arthavadushti. According to ayurveda, the menstrual disorders are based on the predominance of dosha such as Vata, kapha, rakta, and due the combination of 2 doshas and 3 doshas.
Etiological factors

Management
The ayurvedic management includes, intake or oral medicines and introduction of single herb formulation, panchakarma therapies and advising diet modification and to change the lifestyle. Diet and lifestyle play an important role in menstrual disorder especially for PCOS.
• Abhyanga and swedana- Vata, specifically apana vata will be in aggravated state. Its helps to remove the toxin doshas from our body. Thus regulates the hormone balance.
• Vasti- it’s a panchakarma procedure which helps to balance the aggravated vata dosha. Its also reduces the inflammation in the body, improves the digestion.
• Virechana- Panchakarma procedure which helps the imbalanced pitta, the arthava i.e.; the menstrual blood is having relation to pitta dosha. Aggravation of pitta dosha will also cause the menstrual disorder like metrorrhagia.
• Shiro dhara- it’s an external treatment which helps to regulate the hormones and make the body relaxed and calm.
• Udwarthana –Treatment where the person will undergo the powder massage over the body, is commonly done in pcos patients, and if associated with kapha dosha.
Diet

• Intake of dates, black raisins, dry fruits help to reduce the vata.
