Effective Ayurvedic Ways to Lower Bad Cholesterol and Boost Heart Health

Cholesterol is the major sterol in animal tissues, which are usually found in tissues, plasma or as storage form. The cholesterol is divided as Low-density Lipoprotein LDL (bad cholesterol), High density lipoprotein HDL (good cholesterol), and the triglycerides. The main site of synthesis is in liver, intestine, skin, adrenal cortex, placenta. Etc. And the source is from the diet.
Normal serum level
Cholesterol level- 150-220mg/dL
The person who are aged, males, hypertensive, Smokers, Obese, those who follows Sedentary lifestyle, and who has familial history of high cholesterol, are under the risk category to develop the hypercholesterolemia. High cholesterol in the blood is called as hypercholesterolemia, where the cholesterol gets deposited over the walls of the artery, there by atherosclerosis, Heart block which can lead to heart attack.
According to ayurveda, aggravation of kapha and medho dhathu, results in cholesterol in blood. Its also mentioned under the concept of agni, occur due to the improper metabolism and assimilation. The dosha predominant is kapha.

Management

One can follow the panchakarma treatment which help to remove the kapha dosha. Administration of some ayurvedic herbs, modifying the diet and lifestyle will be helping to keep the cholesterol level in the optimum level.
Ayurveda massage, can help to reduce the weight ,and udwarttana (powder massage) reduce the medhas, and kapha in the body.

Diet in cholesterol

• Fiber rich foods can be included.
• Dry nuts, which include almonds, walnuts, cashews.
• Avoid consuming dairy products, sugar products
• Include all the legumes and grains- oats, millets
• Salads, leafy vegetables, sweet potatoes, fish
• Avoid red meat, include the chicken breast.
• Avoid all processed food items, which include Maida. Atta.

Lifestyle modifications

• Yoga asana- Chakrasana, Arda Matsyendrasana, Paschimottanasana, Pavanamukthasana.
• Pranayama – The breathing exercise also helps to governs the metabolism, and other function. The pranayama is Nadishudhi pranayama, Kapalabathi pranayama.
• Meditation is also beneficial; it helps to reduce the stress and bring the mind calm.
• Avoid smoking, it can trigger he the cholesterol level in blood.
• Limit the consumption of saturated foods.
• Start doing exercise, such as jogging, walking, swimming, dancing to burn the calories.
