What Is Ayurveda
Ayurveda is basically one of the most historic and heartfelt systems of the world, built on nature’s own healing principles. The word itself implies “the science of life,” which is in itself the objective of the system – to help people lead a healthy, life-filled with love and harmony, and balanced in all ways. The system is all about the balance of body, mind, and spirit and comprises the main elements of the Vedas – the wellness-oriented ancient way that has been the norm of human life since the very beginning.
Within the philosophy of Lord Dhanvantari, who is the divine physician, Ayurveda’s teachings were first written down in the classical texts like the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita. These writings are still considered the basis of Ayurvedic thought and practice.
Three doshas (bodily energies), one of which is air and space or Vata, a combination of fire and water known as Pitta, and the last one being a mixture of earth and water called Kapha, represent the core idea of Ayurveda that every phenomenon in the universe could be explained by the three doshas, was is the most fundamental aspect of Ayurveda. An individual’s constitution, or Prakriti, is a mixture of these elements. Health in Ayurveda is understood as the state of doshas’ equilibrium, and it can be brought about by living a moral life, consuming the right food, and using nature’s healing methods.
