Panchakarma Therapies(Detoxification Treatments)

medical system. They work wonders in getting rid of the most stubborn and imbalanced factors from the body via vomiting, purgation, enema, nasal medication, and bloodletting, and thus, bug-free, the body doesn’t get diseases again.

  1. One of the components of Panchakarma, Vamana, is the use of drugs to bring about therapeutic emesis or induced vomiting. Vamana practically uses herbs that are administered to the patient to cause vomiting, and the whole process is under strict practitioners’ supervision. It expels the dirty things and the dosha that have been collected in the upper gastrointestinal tract through the combined use of specifically selected herbs. The‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌ treatment is, however, designed in such a way that it also liberates the soul and brings calmness of the mind by mental clarity and emotional equilibrium, along with cleansing the physical ‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌body.
  2. Another therapy, Virechana, is based on purgation. The deliberately done detox through the use of herbal remedies is aimed at getting rid of bile, waste materials, and doshas, thereby helping the liver, gallbladder, and intestines to purify themselves and get their digestive balance back.
  3. The third therapy, Basti, revolves around medicated enemas that help in colon purification as well as the removal of the deepest toxins. The therapy works on the body through the nutrients and becomes physical as well as mental rejuvenation. The process also makes the body’s resistance system stronger, and, in addition, it gives the body the ability to grow in general.
  4. The fourth therapy, Nasya, is primarily about nasal medication. This is the process of instilling herbal oils, powders, or medicated agents into the nasal passages. Nasya therapy cleans your nasal passages. It removes toxins and eases congestion. It also calms the mind and body. You feel clearer, lighter, and relaxed. It helps more than just breathing.
  5. The fifth treatment, Raktamokshana, belongs to the techniques of bloodletting. The process of blood removal, which is aimed at the reparation of the body and the removal of toxins, is done in a very limited and careful manner; thus, it is good for those who suffer from inflammation. The therapy is always done under the guidance of skilled Ayurvedic practitioners.

In short, the five Panchakarma therapies work together as a single unit to get rid of the toxins, even the doshas, and adapt the body, mind, and spirit to nature’s laws. What’s more, these therapies first and foremost heal the root causes of diseases, so that the patients’ symptoms disappear and, on top of that, wellness gets enhanced, and this inner transformation takes place.

At Lords Ayurvedic Research Center Kerala, Panchakarma therapies are the result of the work of qualified Ayurvedic doctors who closely supervise the whole process, bearing in mind the patient’s requirement, and thus safety and effectiveness of the treatment are ensured to the maximum level.

We are also pleased to run an educational Ayurveda Massage and Panchakarma Diploma, which is a thorough introductory course to the Panchakarma therapy system, as well as a practical course in Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya, and Raktamokshana, for those who want to be professionally trained.
